FOTD - RMK

After a couple of days of smearing cream shadow on with a finger as part of my pared down travel routine, I was ready to wield the blending brush again this morning, and fancied some colour.

When I was at the RMK counter last week, I bought one of the shadow quads from their Spring Modern range, which takes its inspiration from 20th Century contemporary art. I couldn't choose which of the palettes to buy, but the fact that two were sold out made it a little easier. I eventually came home with the Coral Green palette.
I already own some RMK shadows, so I knew to expect fairly sheer yet buildable colour. I decided to do an eye using the two green shades and the coral. The fourth shade is a shimmery, mid brown.

After applying RMK liquid foundation (I am in LOVE with this product) and Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I used the pale shimmery green from the palette in the inner corners and first third of the eyelid. This is very sheer and shimmery, but worked well to highlight, I thought. I then used the dark green across the rest of the lid and pulled it under the lower lash line. To add more oomph, as I was not feeling very subtle today, I used a mermaid green from my Yaby palette to intensify the dark green colour. I then used the RMK coral in the crease and blended it toward the browbone. To finish the eyes, I used MAC Vanilla on the browbone and applied a coat of Estee Lauder Sumptuous mascara.

Cheeks were Urban Decay blusher in Sweetie and I used a small amount of the limited edition mineral highlighter from the Boots No 7 Spring colour collection on top of my ckeekbones and down the bridge of my nose. Lips were just slicked with a peachy gold Barry M lipgloss.

Here's a close up of my lashes and the Estee Lauder Sumptuous mascara sample I mentioned in an earlier post. It lengthens well and one coat adds some volume, but is not over the top. It does not flake or smudge and holds the curl of my lashes well. I think it's pretty good.

I really like the RMK palette. I'm a big fan of their products as it seems impossible to be heavy handed with them. I went back to the counter today to buy the liquid foundation I've fallen in love with, so I'll post on that soon. I also bought my first ever purchases from Suqqu and I'm very excitted about them. I'll hopefully post initial pics and thoughts tomorrow.

  2. I love how those colors look on you! It's a shame they don't sell that brand where I live. Is that brand exclusive of the UK?

I'll definitely be following your blog :-) If you get a chance check mine out at

  3. Hi emmakarolina, thanks so much!

RMK is a Japanese brand. They sell it in Selfridges in the UK and also on lookfantastic.com which does ship internationally, so might be worth a look?

I'll definitely check out your blog :-)
